Master Plumbers wins at 2023 Site Safe Awards
21 March 2023
Master Plumbers has won the Kalmar Mental Health and Wellbeing Award at the 2023 Site Safe Health, Safety and Wellbeing Awards, presented in Auckland this March.
Wellbeing on Tap recognised
The award recognises the success of the Master Plumbers Wellbeing on Tap programme, which has grown since its launch in 2019 to encompass online wellbeing resources, blogs and videos, an 0800 number to access Master Plumbers Wellbeing Guy Kereama Carmody, and our Wellbeing Toolbox Talk roadshow sessions.
What the judges said
The judging panel said the programme showcased an organisation going way beyond its legal duties and were particularly impressed with the growth of the programme. One apprentice summed it up for the judges by saying that talking with Kereama on the hotline had given him the confidence to speak up on his own mental health journey. "What a wonderful initiative and a great model for other membership organisations."
Here to help
The construction industry can be a stressful one, and members in the flood and cyclone hit regions of the North Island are doing it particularly tough. We are here to offer wellbeing support to everyone within our member businesses, as well as our Masterlink apprentices.
Pick up the phone to Kereama if you need to talk. The 0800 number is free, confidential, and available during normal business hours.
