Updated construction protocols under COVID-19 Alert Level 1
10 June 2020
At 11:59pm on Monday June 8 New Zealand moved to Alert Level 1.
While this means that former restrictions such as gathering sizes and public distancing have been relaxed, there are safety precautions that should continue be observed by trade professionals.
The COVID-19 Residential Construction Protocols and Vertical & Horizontal Construction Protocols have been amended to reflect the changes this brings for our industry. We encourage you to read both documents.
Key changes to the residential protocols are given below:
- Encourage workers to stay 1m from those outside their work bubble
- Workers can work closer to other workers in their bubble where necessary and if a risk assessment has been completed
- Non-essential visitors can undertake site visits
- Encourage minimum 1m physical distancing from a delivery team.
In addition, it is essential that businesses maintain contact tracing under Alert Level 1. This allows for quick and efficient tracking of the contacts of anyone who may have been exposed to COVID-19.
Our members are also required to wear full COVID-19 PPE kit when working with wastewater to mitigate the risk of infection when dealing with human waste.
